Greetings from The Eagle Point & Upper Rogue Chamber of Commerce (UR Chamber)
Summer may officially be over and school back in session, but that does not mean Mother Nature is in full agreement, darn it remains hot. Since it’s not too late, I’m getting a new AC unit installed. I hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe summer.
But the fun is not over. As we look forward to Fall and the coming Winter, there are more community events scheduled for everyone to enjoy. This Saturday, Sept. 7th The City of Shady Cove will celebrate its 52nd Birthday. Drive on over and help them celebrate while enjoying the music, games and snacks from 3-6 PM at Aunt Caroline’s Park, Shady Cove. I’ll be up there a bit early to participate in the Used paint drop-off event at Shady Cove Public Works 1008 Celtic Circle from 9-Noon.
On Thursday evening October 10, the Chamber will hold its annual Awards Banquet and Silent Auction. This year’s dinner and business awards ceremony will be held at the Eagle Point Grange Hall from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Tickets for the catered BBQ dinner are $40 for Members and $50 for non-members and will be available on the chamber web site soon for purchasing. If you’re interested in donating something for the silent auction please email info@eaglepointchamber.org. We truly appreciated your continued support!
Then on Saturday October 26 UR Chamber and local Churches will host the annual downtown Hoedown. Main Street Eagle Point will be closed to traffic from 4:00-7:00 PM so that kids and parents can Trunk-r-Treat and fill their Halloween bags with candy. There will be family games and local food trucks. Please come join the fun.
I am also happy to report that UR Chamber will be cooperating with the Eagle Point Community Association for the annual Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting and Spring Easter Egg Hunt. Donations of stuffed animals and cash are needed to support these wonderful events. Please contact the Chamber if you have any new or gently used stuffed animals, or gently used cash, to contribute.
This is a great community and UR Chamber is always looking for more ways to promote business in our region. But all this takes effort and support from our dedicated volunteers. UR Chamber is currently seeking new Board members and committee volunteers to replace those who are rotating off. Nominations are now being accepted and new terms will begin in January.
Please mark your calendars for our next Chamber meeting and lunch on Monday September 9 at 12pm at the Eagle Point City Hall Ashpole Center. Come join us.
Regards,
Jay O’Neil
