Civic & Non-Profits
Eagle Point Grange
Today the Grange has a membership of 218 and assists in funding the Senior Citizen Club, Eagle Point Museum, the Fourth- of July festivities and food baskets for the needy at Christmas time.
It was organized in 1925 with 18 charter members. The Grange sponsored a 5-year road building program carrying with it a special levy for five mills, thirty miles of new road, mail routes along these roads, and night and day service on all telephone lines coming into Eagle Point.
In 1927 the Grange constructed the first hall, the most spacious and well-designed hall in the State of Oregon, at the cost of $7,000.00. They also assisted in the organization of four new Granges in Jackson County: Talent, Jacksonville, Central Point, and Lake Creek.
Unfortunately, Grange halls had run-ins with fire, with two halls burning down in 1929 & 1930. They had fund raising functions of all sorts and recovered, with the present hall completed in 1938, for $4,000, using lots of volunteer labor and materials.

Eagle Point Food Project
The Eagle Point Food Project is an innovative way to fight hunger in our community. We are an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization.
Here’s how it works: Every other month, our Neighborhood Coordinators pick up bags of nonperishable food that our food donors leave outside their front doors in green bags. They leave empty green bags for the next pick up and deliver the food to the Eagle Point Access Food Pantry. It’s that simple.
If you would like to help, check out our website at: eaglepointfoodproject.com.
Eagle Point Senior Center
The Eagle Point Senior Center has a mission to support, nurture, enrich and improve the quality of the lives of members of the community; by providing food, social activities, education, meals, haven, community engagement, and the collective wherewithal to address current and future needs; through conscientious physical stewardship of a community senior facility, fiscal responsibility, and partnering.
The Center began with the planning stage in July 1978 at a meeting in the Loaves and Fishes Annex of the Community Bible Church on Shasta Avenue. In 1978 seventy members started the group. The first year $2,000 was raised.
There were many yard sales, potlucks, and raffles. Enough money was gathered in the first few years to enable the group to purchase the property on Loto Street for approximately $9,000.00.
In May 1983, the Board met to review construction plans that were presented at an estimated cost of $113,748.
The center was completed in March 1986. The current Thrift Store was originally known as the Rainbow Room and sold handcrafted items.
The Center was expanded in 2006. Volunteers from the Lions Club did most of the work. Much of the cost was covered by a $10,000.00 donation from the new Wal-Mart Store in Eagle Point.

Southern Oregon Motor Sports
Southern Oregon Speedway: A Field Of Dreams For The Racers For Many Years
The Medford area has a long and storied history of racing going back many years to the famed Medford Speedway. When the last track closed, the search was on for a new location. It was found at the Jackson County Sports Park in neighboring White City. Jackson County built the 3/10th mile banked clay oval track and opened it in April of 1996.
The divisions featured that first season included the Dirt Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Mini Stocks and Winged Sprint Cars. The track also hosted visits from the Late Models, SODCA Dwarf Cars and other groups. Through the years, big Late Model and Sprint Car events have taken place at the speedway, and the biggest race of the year is R Charles Snyder Salute .
In the early years of Modified racing, the track ran the Modifieds with wings on the cars. In more recent years, Southern Oregon Speedway has run the division under IMCA sanctioning and added an IMCA Sport Mod division as a way to help breathe new life into some of the older cars in the area.

Butte Creek Mill
The Mill is an iconic structure that was built in 1872. It is on the National Register of Historic Places as the last water-powered grist mill, still commercially operating, this side of the Mississippi. After a fire on Christmas morning in 2015 burned the beloved landmark to the ground, the Butte Creek Mill Foundation was formed and became the owner of Butte Creek Mill.
Butte Creek Mill Reconstruction is currently moving through the final phase of its rebuild project. The current Foundation Board owes the previous Board a debt of gratitude for their years of dedicated service and for bringing the Mill project from a burnt pile of rubble to a standing structure. The current Board is comprised of six Eagle Point residents with specific areas of expertise required to bring this project to completion and full operation. Foundation Board members are Don Blaser, Therese Hoehne, John Parsons, Jonathan Bilden and Barbara Young.
We are happy to report that much of the interior construction work has been completed and the old Country Store is now open for business. Please check our web site for business hours. www.buttecreekmill.com
