February General Meeting:  The next chamber meeting is Monday February 4th 12 noon at the Ashpole Center in downtown Eagle Point.  Our lunch hosts will be Eagle Point Hardware.  Bunny Lincoln representing the Eagle Point Community Association will have a few minutes to talk about the upcoming exotic dessert auction on March 9th to benefit the EPCA.  Then we’ll welcome our guest speaker Jack Vitacco.  Jack is director of the Small Business Development Center at Southern Oregon University.

This is going to be extremely informative for any and all small business owners, home businesses and start-ups.  Jack will discuss many of the business programs and free resources that are available to business owners in the rogue valley..

March General Meeting:  Guest speaker for our March meeting will be Michael Smith the Business Development Manager at SOREDI.  The meeting will be held at the Ashpole and we are currently looking for a lunch sponsor… Don’t forget your 5 minutes of Chamber fame come with your lunch sponsorship.

Vintage Faire:   We are in the process of gathering volunteers for the event.  The event takes place on Saturday May 11th.  We’re in need of volunteers to help with the “Save the Date” campaign to vendors, volunteers to help map out the 2013 event, volunteers for the day before to help with some hay bails and set up of some of the venues, volunteers for the day of that can act as designated information.

Volunteers for the day of the event will have special 2013 Vintage Faire t-shirts to recognize to the visitors that they are part of the event and can help with information.  We’re also looking for businesses that can help with sponsorship’s.  If interested or would like some more information, click on the link here for our one-sheet or contact Mike Frey at eaglepointupperrogue@gmail.com.

Chamber Gift Certificate Drawing:   The chamber is currently rounding up gift certificates form local businesses for a fundraiser drawing.  At this current time we have quickly raised over $500 in less than a week from businesses like, The Butcher Shop, My Circle K, Eagle Point Golf Course, Cascade Community Pool.  Minimum donation is a $25 gift certificate.

We’ll be collecting the donations between now and the end of March, then begin to sell drawing tickets for the large prize.  The drawing will be held Saturday May 11th at the Vintage Faire.  If your a business that would like to help but a gift certificate doesn’t make sense, buy a gift certificate from a chamber owned business and donate it.

Rogue River Lodge River View Room:  Super Bowl Party February 3rd.  Great atmosphere, great food and expect some Boudin bread, fresh from San Francisco!

Upper Rogue Networking Group Meeting :  The Upper Rogue Networking Group’s steering committee is sponsoring a ‘free’ presentation of the survey results.
This public meeting is on Thursday January 24, 2013, 4:30 PM at the Edgewater Innmeeting room in Shady Cove. The program also includes a panel discussion, “The Care and Feeding of Volunteers”.   Light refreshments will be served. Participants are urged to bring dates and times for events to include in the Upper Rogue Master Calendar.  For questions and more information contact Carolyn at aloe999@aol.com.

URCC 20th Annual Chili Cook-Off and Dessert Auction:  URCC 20th Annual Chili Cook-off and dessert auction always brings in a huge crowd. Come join the fun on February 23rd starting at 5:00 p.m. It is limited to only 4 groups which have been participating for years in this competition. Nobody would want to stand in their way. They all take this event very seriously.The Dessert Auction will benefit the Center’s Youth Activity Programs. Come back later for more information on this event. Exotic Dessert Auction:  The annual Exotic Dessert Auction is Saturday, Mar. 9th at 7 p.m. at the EPHS cafeteria. The event is co-sponsored by the Eagle Point Community Association and Skills USA at EPHS. The association puts their share of the funds toward numerous activities including July 4th events, Christmas Around Town, Easter Bunny , to name a few… For more information, please contact Bunny Lincoln (541-944-2446) or Matt Boren (541-840-5266).

Open Swims:   Open swim at Cascade Community Pool every Wednesday and Friday 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  Just $1.50 for children and $3.00 for adults.

Vintage Faire:  Saturday May 11th from 10a to 4p

Eagle Point Chamber/Culpepper & Merriweather Circus:  Tuesday May 21st.  Big thank you to Rae Mooring and Hank Rademacher for volunteering, we’re looking for a couple more to assist with the marketing a pre-circus ticket sales.  If you or an employee would like to help contact Bob Pinnell.

After Hours Social:   We ‘re making plans for the first couple after hours social events.  An opportunity to attend for some being that it’s after hours.  An opportunity to talk and swap stories being that no ‘official’ business will be slated or conducted, Just a chance for us all to get to know one another a little better…  So stay tuned and get ready to mark your calendar!

Avenue of the Flags:   The 2013 schedule for “Avenue of the Flags” is now on the calendar.  All the dates when they go up, and weather permitting when they come done.  If you would like to volunteer they meet at 4p in the Ray’s parking lot near Upper Rogue Independent the days they go up and down.

General Meeting Field Trips:  We are putting together some field trips and changing the scenery of the general meetings in the Summer and early Fall.  Look for the road show to hit Alpacas at Lone Ranch, Cascade Community Pool, Eagle Point golf Course, Butte Creek Mill, South Valley Bank and more..
