The Mill is an iconic structure that was built in 1872. It is on the National Register of Historic Places as the last water-powered grist mill, still commercially operating, this side of the Mississippi. After a fire on Christmas morning in 2015 burned the beloved landmark to the ground, the Butte Creek Mill Foundation was formed and became the owner of Butte Creek Mill.
Butte Creek Mill Reconstruction is currently moving through Phase 3 of a 4 phase Rebuild project. As part of a natural evolution in such long-term projects, the Butte Creek Mill Foundation Board recently transitioned with new Board members stepping in to take the project into the business phase. The new Foundation Board owes the previous Board a debt of gratitude for their years of dedicated service and for bringing the Mill project from a burnt pile of rubble to the beautiful building that stands on the site today. The new Board is comprised of Eagle Point residents with specific areas of expertise required to bring this project to completion and full operation. This news should be viewed as a positive progression in the work being done to complete this important community project. New Board members are Don Blaser, Carolyn Ryder, Diane Sessions, and Jay O’Neil.
