Prospect Charter School

Prospect Charter School is located in the town of Prospect, a small Southern Oregon community nestled in the Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest.
PCS Offers: Charter enrollment grades K-12; Small class sizes/low student to teacher ratios; Morning and afternoon preschool; Career and technical education classes; Dual-Credit Opportunities with RCC; Grades 5-12 no pay to play athletics.

At Prospect Charter School, we believe in helping students turn their dreams into reality; with new resources and programs to provide students the tools and information to achieve post-secondary education success. PCS has implemented a program called GEAR UP (https://oregongearup.org/). GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs which is supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and community partners.

GEAR UP’s primary goal is to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. Post-secondary education & training could include but is not limited to trade schools, a 2-year community college or a 4-year university. We help students realize their career potential through Middle-School and High-School activities that provide awareness, enhance their academics, and feed their aspirations.

PCS not only has a full-time GEAR UP Coordinator on site but we also have a full-time Rogue Community College / TRiO College & Career Advisor (https://www.roguecc.edu/studentSuccess/trio.asp) on site who also coordinates opportunities through Project Youth Plus (https://projectyouthplus.org/home). There are endless ways for students to explore their interests, gain work experience, enhance life-skills, and build their own pathway towards success after high-school.

Together, we are promoting a “college-going” culture with our students and our community. The initiatives take a fully collective effort as we plan several trips to college campuses and participate in industry tours to promote college & career readiness. When we’re not traveling, we’re providing students on-campus experiences that give them hope and increase their awareness of why education is so important. We work alongside them from Middle-School all the way through their first year of post-secondary education and sometimes beyond that.
