It’s almost the 4th of July, it is appropriate to remind everyone that we have a Big city celebration coming up on Independence Day. We will start out with a timed Fun run, both 1 mile and 5 K. with prizes and raffles. Main street Eagle Point will be closed off for the downtown vendors from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (vendors will be ready to go at 9:00 AM); the parade will start at 11:00 AM and the military jet fly over will take place between 11:30 and noon. We will have live music downtown from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. The High school football stadium will open at 7:00 PM with music and fireworks at around 9:45 PM. Please tell your neighbors and friends and bring the family out for a great time. We will have a few food vendors, face painting and animal balloon maker at the “pre-firework” event at the EP stadium, 7:00 PM- 9:00 PM. The Butte Creek Mill and the E.P. Museum will be open for visitors, as will the Eagle Point Coffee House and Coco’s Taco truck.
Elsewhere in Eagle Point, our community continues to grow. New businesses are coming to town and, according to census data, the city population, excluding dogs, is now 9,865 and 22.3% of the residents are 65 and over, so be nice to the old folks. We have grown by 96.5 % since then year 2000. The city is officially 3 square miles. We have much to be thankful for and much to look forward to. Come out and say hi on July 4th.
Please follow our web site to stay informed and let us know if you have an upcoming event that our community would enjoy. If you are opening a new business, we would like to help advertise such with a Ribbon Cutting and Chamber welcome.
