Membership Drive: Strength comes in numbers and we’ve begun to organize a membership drive. A ‘new’ packet has been put together for prospective prospects. We feel is does a better of showing and describing the benefits of being a member of the Upper Rogue Chamber as well as talks about some of the newer features to be implemented. Veteran’s Day Ceremony: Sunday November 11th is the Eagle Point Veteran’s Day Ceremony. Everyone is asked to meet at the Ashpole Center between 10:15am and 10:30am and all will walk down Main Street to the Covered Bridge where the official ceremony will begin promptly at 11am. A breakfast will be served that morning at the Senior Center with all Veterans eat for FREE.
PremierWest Bank: Announced the winners of their Premier Community Star Award which is honoring Veteran’s that have given so much back to the communities that they live in. Two of the three finalists are Upper Rogue residents Skip Geear and Jerry Zieman. Skip was awarded the $1,500 for first place which goes to the Wood Preservation House. Jerry tied for second place, with $500 going to the Senior Center. Thank you to a wonderful Chamber member PremierWest Bank.
The Historic Prospect Hotel: Something for everyone at the Prosepct Hotel! First enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast with all the trimmings and you won’t have to wash one dish or pan. December 1st is their Murder Mystery Dinner and December 8th Victorian Christmas High Tea & Craft Faire. If you are looking for a holiday party location the Prospect Hotel is perfect. Gobble till You Wobble at the Butte Creek Mill: November 10 is the 3rd annual ‘Gobble till you Wobble’. This is a great family event, come see a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast prepared in Dutch Ovens and sample a plate as well. For more information, click here.
Quilt Show: The Material Girls of Shady Cove will be hosting a ‘Quilt Show’ Shady Cove School November 3rd and 4th from 10a-4p each day. The Show is a Holiday Bazaar featuring qulits, quilitng demonstrations. Click here for more information.
Clean the gutters or work around the house: As we begin to winterize our homes, clean the gutters and all the fun stuff that comes with the seasonal change, be sure to check-out chamber members: Eagle Point Hardware, Grange Co-op and Big R. How great is it when you can walk into a store, ask questions and get real answers that are helpful in solving the problem? You can count on that with all three of these establishments.
Santa’s Workshop: Off to a great start to make sure that No child–No family in the Upper Rogue goes without Christmas…You can help! We need volunteers to set-up and work the store; we’re also looking for donated items. You can drop off items at the Upper Rogue Independent or contact Kathy at urindependent@charter.net.
General Meeting November 5th: The speakers for this month’s general meeting are Kaye Caulkins and Kris Howard, coordinators of the Eagle Point Food Project, and changing the world one green bag at a time, The Eagle Point Food Project is a grass roots program, with all the food that collected in Eagle Point staying in Eagle Point. For more information on the Eagle Point Food Project click here. Richard and Renate Gyuro will be providing lunch. They will also be displaying the wonderful products made from Alpacas at Lone Ranch. With the membership drive going on, the easiest way for us to grow is for you to bring a friend to this general meeting.
